PetRepair Vets is an independent, privately owned clinic founded in early 2021 by Dr. Gabor Nemes. Based on the clinic’s own information, it’s set up for more involved medical and surgical work (including emergency/critical care, orthopaedics, advanced dentistry, imaging, and an in-house lab), rather than just routine check-ups.
From the latest reviews available to us, owners repeatedly mention: vets explaining options in plain language; support for anxious or fear-reactive dogs (including patience and taking time to reduce stress); and at least one report of a vet advising where to buy medication cheaper than the practice could supply. One recent review strongly disputes the accuracy of clinical notes and describes a distressing consultation involving a cat, concerns about oxygen therapy, and follow-up handled via a solicitor—so experiences appear mixed.

Pet Repair Vets CARE for your pets! I have taken both my staffy and Labrador here for the last 3 + years, and they have both received the best care and treatment. My staffy was extremely nervous at the vets, and showed signs of fear aggression, but with some care and compassion they were able to treat him with far less stress than with other vet practices. My labrador is extremely sensitive with a number of allergies resulting in frequent infections and treatments and the whole team treat him (& me) like part of the family. Despite our many visits, (some quite traumatic due to complications from allergic reactions), my lab is still always happy to see the team. Gabor goes over and above, and spent a considerable amount of time when the practice was closed with my lab, due to concern over his condition due to post op allergic reactions. Not the cheapest vets around, but you get what you pay for in terms of care and I could not recommend them enough. Thank you for looking after my pets as if they were your own!

On 21 October 2025, I brought my beautiful boy cat to PetRepair Vets after a frightening choking episode the night before. He had spent most of the morning cuddling and playing on the couch, bright, affectionate, alert, and purring — exactly as would have been visible on the waiting-room CCTV. I felt hopeful and proud and kept looking back toward reception expecting someone to comment on him. A photo that morning shows how well he was before the consultation. Despite this, the clinical notes later stated: “presented depressed, tachypnoeic, in respiratory distress.” During the consultation, the vet examined my fur baby's neck and immediately suggested euthanasia. I said: “I do not want him put down at this time. I will take him home and arrange care there.” The vet pulled him back and pressed on his neck again. Immediately my fur baby began choking, and the vet repeatedly said: “sorry, sorry, sorry.” While my boy was being treated out back, the assistant said: “It was too much for him coming here.” I told her it was because the vet had pressed on his neck, and she nodded. The vet repeated the same phrase several times that the visit had been too much. This felt rehearsed and emotionally manipulative, leaving me frightened and powerless. During oxygen therapy, I could not feel any airflow from the mask. When I asked, I was told it was on. The practice’s notes stated: “Will not tolerate face mask for oxygen therapy.” The solicitor later confirmed the machine was operational and no logs are retained. In my experience, however, he did not receive effective airflow, he wasn't resisting the mask but lying still this has left me concerned. I explicitly asked for CCTV footage of our visit. The practice said: “Our CCTV system is exclusively for the security of the premises… footage from 21st October 2025 had already been automatically deleted.” The solicitor repeated: “As stated previously, our client’s CCTV system does not cover the consultation or preparation areas… no footage from 21 October 2025 remains available.” Neither clarified whether there was CCTV in the waiting room. I have since received a photo showing a camera there, contradicting their statements. This felt evasive and misleading. I believe CCTV in consulting rooms should be mandatory for accountability. The practice wrote: “As a gesture of goodwill… we waived charges totalling £320.” ??? wow - I should be grateful then should I? After my follow-up requests for full records, oxygen logs and clarity on CCTV, the practice involved a solicitor, which felt heavy-handed and intimidating when I was merely exercising my legal right to records. Seeing my beautiful boy choke and struggle, leaving with him deceased, the repeated scripted statements, refusal to state that CCTV is in the waiting room, and contradictory statements about CCTV left me feeling devastated, powerless, and manipulated. I am reporting this practice to the regulatory body because the notes about my boy's presentation were completely inaccurate. I hope my experience encourages improvements in transparency, honesty, and accountability, and supports the introduction of mandatory CCTV in consultation rooms to protect pets and their families.

Absolutely fabulous!!!! Having tried just about every vet in Barnsley and being ridiculously over charged for the most basic treatments I found these guys Pet Repair. From the moment I walked in I was made to feel welcome and reassured by the receptionists who were great. The vet was amazing he explained everything in great detail and in layman’s terms which even I could understand very caring compassionate and friendly place and I must say as honest as the day is long letting me know where to buy medication cheaper than they can get it! If you live in Barnsley and love your animals go to vet repair they are the best vets I’ve ever been to by a long way! Thank you all keep us the great work!😀👍👌

My friend recommended pet repair vets for my African grey as we encountered our first emergency. From my first phone call to them, I knew my boy was going to be in good hands! I have owned animals all my life and been to various vets, Never have I ever come across a veterinary surgery, that have the same care for your pet as you do! I honestly can not thank all the staff at pet repair vets enough for their love and care for myself and my boy. It was by far the best experience I have ever had with a veterinary team. Once again thank you so so much to you all from Leigh & Rocky.

Review for Pet Repair Vets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After a frustrating experience with our previous vet in Barnsley, we decided it was time for a change. We felt taken for granted and, to our horror, received advice that could have led to one of our beloved pets being put to sleep. It was a wake-up call that prompted us to do some thorough research, and that’s when we discovered Pet Repair Vets, Barnsley. From the moment we walked through the door, the difference was palpable. The level of care and attention we received was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Gabor is a true gem! He takes the time to explain everything in layman's terms, making sure we fully understand our pets' conditions and treatment options. His passion for veterinary care is evident, and it’s clear that he genuinely cares about getting the right diagnosis. He leaves no stone unturned, always prioritizing the well-being of our fur kids. Transitioning our three pets to Pet Repair Vets has been one of the best decisions we've ever made. I feel a sense of relief knowing they are in such capable and compassionate hands. The trust I have in their care is unwavering, and I can’t thank the team enough for their dedication, time, and support. Oh, and I have to mention their app—it’s fantastic! It makes managing appointments and accessing pet health information so easy. If you’re looking for a veterinary practice that truly values its clients and their pets, I wholeheartedly recommend Pet Repair Vets. You won’t regret it!

Having been fobbed off for over a year from another well known vets, we went here with our little shihtzu who was ripping his skin out and scratching, we were very upset and depressed. However we saw Gabor and he explained everything to us with such care and compassion, within four days our little boy was so much better and back to his happy self. We cant thank you enough, to the receptionist and then the team, thank you, would NEVER go anywhere else, thank you so much.

This is an absolutely amazing veterinary practice, we switched our dachshund from abbey vets to here after hearing so many good things about it! Our fur baby is extremely anxious and isn’t great around new people. All of the staff just put us all at ease, nothing is too big or small for them, one person that stood out to me and my partner is Aleksandra the vet, she was so patient with our boy to the point he even started to take treats from her hand ( this is a big win for us) and it was so lovely to see, she really is an amazing lady and we can’t thank her enough for our experience here so far. Thank you so much for all your help and knowledge that we was able to take away with us …We would definitely recommend this vets to anyone!!
